7 Approaches To The Cross

1) MAN'S RESPONSE TO THE CROSS
- Matthew 27 : 39-40
39People passing by shook their heads and hurled insults at Jesus;40" You were going to tear down the Temple and build it up again in three days! Save yourself if you're GOD's son! Come on down from the cross! "
( Passer-by > They never remain near to the cross long enough. )
JESUS'S RESPONSES FROM THE CROSS
- Luke 23 : 34
34Jesus said , " Forgive them , Father! They don't know what they are doing. "
> Our GOD Reigns because he does not curse / swear any passer-by.

2) MAN'S RESPONSE TO THE CROSS
- Luke 23 : 42
42And he said to Jesus , " Rememeber me , Jesus , when you come as King! "
JESUS'S RESPONSES FROM THE CROSS
- Luke 23 : 43
43Jesus said to him , " I promise you that today you will be in paradise with me. "

3) MAN'S RESPONSE TO THE CROSS
- Luke 23 : 39
39One of the criminals hanging there hurled insults at him : " Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us! "

John 19 : 26 - 27
26Jesus saw his mother and the disciple he loved standing there; so he said to his mother , " He is your son. " 27Then he said to the disciple , " She is your mother. " From that time the disciple took her to live in his home.

4) MAN'S RESPONSES TO THE CROSS
- Matthew 27 : 42 - 43
42" He saved others, but he cannot save himself! Isn't he the King of Israel? If he comes down off the cross now, we will believe him! 43He trusts in GOD and claims to be GOD's son. Well, then, let us see if GOD wants to save him now! "

46At about three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, " Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? " which means, " My God, my God, why did you abandon me? "

5) JESUS'S RESPONSE FROM THE CROSS
- John 19 : 28 " I thirst! "
28Jesus knew that by now everything had been completed; and in order to make the scripture come true, he said, " I am thirsty! "

29A bowl was there, full of cheap wine; so a sponge was soaked in the wine, put on a stalk of hyssop, and lifted up to his lips.

6) MAN'S RESPONSES TO THE CROSS
- Luke 23 : 35 - 37
35The people stood there watching while the Jewish leaders jeered at him: " He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Messiah whom GOD has chosen! " 36The soldiers also mocked him: they came up to him and offered him cheap wine, 37and said, " Save yourself if you are the King of the Jews! "

- John 19 : 30 " It is finished! "
30Jesus drank the wine and said, " It is finished! " Then he bowed his head and died.

7) JESUS'S RESPONSE FROM THE CROSS

46Jesus cried out in a loud voice, " Father! In your hands i place my spirit! " He said this and died.

39The army officer who was standing there in front of the cross saw how Jesus died. " This man was really the Son of God! " He said.
